In 2004, the Washington Post presented a comparative economic overview of the counties that surround the Nation’s Capital.  With more than 20 counties represented in the research, Arlington emerged with a list of superlatives ranging from highest home values and per capita income in the Washington, D.C. area to relatively low taxes for individuals and businesses as compared to other jurisdictions.

Arlington has more than 198,000 residents, more than 200,000 jobs, and 8,000 overnight visitors on any given day.  As for culture, Arlington is the most urban "suburban" community adjacent to the Nation's Capital.  The Washington Post described Arlington as "the hotbed of cultural abandon" and "one of the hippest local jurisdictions at attracting adventurous arts and artists."

From its vertical architecture to its lively street life featuring eclectic restaurants and smart shops, Arlington is often described as having the most notable "big city" feel of any place in the Washington area.  Arlington is also home to traditional and high-rise neighborhoods, quality schools, abundant park lands, 80 miles of bike trails and diverse commercial districts which complement a world-class corporate presence.
