Stephen A Myers
We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children. ~Native American Proverb
Background: A native Washingtonian, I attended high school in Montgomery County, Maryland, and, after a college interval in Florida, now live in Oakton, Virginia.
I graduated from the University of Florida with a tan, a well-used frisbee and a BS in zoology. That, plus another degree in environmental science, led to my avid interest in environmental issues. Hence, the blue/green corporate colors of MetFund.
My early career was in engineering for Raytheon, performing/working on upgrades for US Navy surface vessels. Then, real estate attracted me along with many others during the 80’s, so I got my license and subsequently my broker’s license. In 1989, I started a multi-state firm, and was successful because I enjoyed the business and working with people, both employees and clients.
MetFund Mortgage: As a Realtor I saw areas in mortgage financing that both intrigued me and where I thought I could make a difference, both personally and professionally. I founded MetFund Mortgage in 1992, surrendering my real estate license soon thereafter.
We’ve served thousands of clients in these past sixteen years. I am grateful to say we’ve won some awards and professional recognition along the way. I believe in utilizing technology but not to the degree that the personal touch is eliminated. Our website has been up and operational for some time and my goal is to continue to make it effective and user-friendly for you, our clients.
Community: My wife and I actively teach our children that community participation is crucial to making a home where we live. I volunteer to teach an art course at my son’s school. I also coach basketball in Northern Virginia's CYO league and in the past for Oakton’s VYI league. This after a fulfilling 3 years as an assistant coach for Oakton's VYS girl’s soccer. Currently, I am a member of the Advisory Board for Catholics for Housing, a non-profit organization formed to sponsor and support the development, construction or rehabilitation of housing projects so that permanent shelter might be more available to serve the needs of limited income families, the elderly, and the disabled.
The highest compliment I can receive is the referral of your friends, family and associates.
